Steam Cleaning

How Steam Cleaning Works
Believe it or not, achieving a truly clean home starts right at the tap. Using just pure tap water, HAAN steam cleaners provide you a safe and effective way to clean and sanitize almost every surface of your home.

HAAN steamers heat up in excess of 212 degrees Fahrenheit, the temperature needed to create sanitizing steam. Applying this steam to your messiest of surfaces works to clean and sanitize the area you are working on.

HAAN steam has been proven to kill up to 99.9% of common household germs, viruses and even dust mites in just one second without the use of potentially toxic chemicals. Steam cleaners also make it possible to throw out those harsh cleaning detergents. The same heat that helps to sanitize your home also breaks down dried on dirt and stuck on stains. The gentle emission of steam destroys the bond that these messes make with your floors, countertops, sinks, and even the soft surfaces in your home. The light moisture of steam helps to capture loose debris on your floor and leaves a sparkling clean with less work than traditional mopping.

super absorbent ultra-microfiber pads

The cleaning pad you choose to use impacts the cleaning efficacy of steamers. A textured pad helps to contain loose debris, adds scrubbing power and aids in the easy gliding of your steamer across a variety of surfaces. Pads should be super absorbent so any excess moisture is wicked into the material, leaving your floors virtually dry and streak-free. Proper care of these pads is important to the longevity of these products. HAAN Ultra-Clean pads are machine washable if you prefer not to wash by hand, but be sure to use the gentle cycle in the washer and dryer. Skip the fabric softener, as it decreases the absorbency of the ulra-microfiber layers that are designed to absorb excess moisture while capturing stains.

Will Steam Damage My Floors?

Over recent years, as the popularity of steam cleaning grew, questions about the safety of cleaning with steam have also risen. When used correctly, steam cleaning is safe on almost any flooring surface. Keep steam cleaning to surfaces that are sealed and that don't have a wax (or no-way) finish to them. Detailed safety instructions can be found in the manual of any steam cleaner. It's important to use a resting pad when the steamer is heating up, cooling down and when the unit is kept stationary. Because HAAN steamers clean and sanitize in as quickly as one second, be sure to also keep the steamer moving. Over saturation or high heat exposure can be potentially harmful to certain types of flooring. If you aren't sure, test a small area of flooring to ensure no damage will occur. We've tested our machines on a variety of surfaces form laminates and hardwoods, to vinyl and ceramic tile with great success.
